Algae Control
The appearance of algae can not only ruin the
aesthetics of your lake or pond but if left unmanaged, can
lead to severe oxygen depletion and the build up of silt which
slowly shrinks the overall depth of the water body, essentially
making it more shallow and expediting the need to dredge.
Dredging? At $120,000/acre? Who in their right mind would
want that?
Algae Control is managed either biologically,
mechanically, chemically, or a combination of all three. There
are many forms of algae, therefore the proper method(s) for
adequate control is determined by the species. Some species
of algae can only be controlled chemically, while others can
be remedied with a well balanced ecosystem or mechanical features
such as fountains, waterfalls and diffused air systems. The
time of integration and application for Algae Control is also
very important Usually, treatments which are started in spring
or early summer as the weeds are maturing achieve the best
results. In short; “the early bird gets the...algae.” |
